In 1948 Sheikh Siraj-u-Din Ahmad along with his son Sheikh Fazal Elahi Akbar laid the foundations of the Akbari Group. It was a humble beginning catering only the materials related to the textile and soap industries. The store was located in the vicinity of the Akbari Gate in the heart of the business hub of Lahore was thus named Akbari Stores. The present building that houses the head office and the main sales outlet is not far from this historic place. The company has come a long way since; growing, expanding and diversifying along the way.
For a family owned business it has a very rich heritage. The third generation is now part of the management and is well aware of its responsibilities; the responsibility of taking great care of the ‘goodwill’ that we have inherited through our service to the industry, the responsibility of playing the leadership role, the responsibility of pioneering ventures and the responsibility of sharing knowledge, expertise and technical know-how are all chore characteristics of our team.
